Arnold Press — Points to Check Today

  • Rotate smoothly — Let the rotation happen naturally as you press, without straining your wrists. (Letting the wrists bend as you rotate because the weight is too heavy)
  • Don't arch your lower back — Brace your core to keep your torso fixed. (Arching the lower back with momentum to press up)
  • Use a moderate weight — Because of the rotation, start lighter than you would for a regular press. (Going so heavy you can't rotate and start to wobble)

Arnold Press — How to Do It / If You're New

  1. Hold the dumbbells in front of your chin with your palms facing you (elbows pointing forward).
  2. As you press up, rotate your wrists outward so your palms face forward at the top.
  3. Extend your arms all the way up (without locking out).
  4. As you lower, rotate your wrists back inward to return to the starting position.
