Lying Leg Raise — Points to Check Today

  • Press your lower back into the floor — If your lower back lifts, you're lifting with it and risking injury. (The lower back lifting off the floor as you lower your legs)
  • No momentum — Raise and lower slowly with your abs. (Kicking the legs up with momentum)
  • Bend your knees if it's hard — If your lower abs are weak, bend your knees to lower the difficulty. (Holding with straight legs until the lower back arches)

Lying Leg Raise — How to Do It / If You're New

  1. Lie on the floor with your legs together and your hands beside your hips or holding a fixed object overhead.
  2. Keeping your lower back pressed into the floor, raise your straight legs upward.
  3. Lift until your pelvis curls slightly, then pause.
  4. Lower your legs slowly without letting your lower back lift, until they're just above the floor.
