Side Plank
A static exercise where you hold a side position to train the obliques and the lateral core.
Beginner · Recommended Sets: 3 sets x 30-45 seconds per side · Obliques, Lower Abs
Side Plank — Points to Check Today
- Keep your body in a straight line — Don't let your hips sag or rise. (The hips sagging toward the floor)
- Elbow under your shoulder — A misaligned elbow strains the shoulder. (The elbow placed in front of or behind the shoulder)
- Keep your hips facing forward — Don't let your body rotate forward or back. (The torso rolling forward as you hold)
Side Plank — How to Do It / If You're New
- Lie on your side with your elbow directly under your shoulder and stack your legs.
- Lift your hips so your head, hips, and feet form a straight line.
- Brace your core and obliques and hold the position.
- Hold for the set time, then repeat the same on the other side.
