Skull Crusher · Intermediate · Triceps

An exercise where you lie down and lower a bar toward your forehead, then extend, to intensively train the triceps.

Intermediate · Recommended Sets: 3 sets x 10-12 reps · Triceps

Skull Crusher — Points to Check Today

  • Keep your elbow position fixed — If your elbows flare or move, the triceps tension is lost. (The elbows flaring outward as you lower)
  • Slow and controlled — Since you're lowering near your forehead, control is the key to safety. (Lowering and raising quickly with momentum)
  • Use a moderate weight — Going too heavy carries a high risk of elbow pain and injury. (Going so heavy your elbows hurt)

Skull Crusher — How to Do It / If You're New

  1. Lie on a bench and hold an EZ bar (or barbell) narrower than shoulder-width over your chest.
  2. Keeping your elbows fixed, bend only your forearms to lower the bar slowly toward your forehead (or behind the top of your head).
  3. Engage your triceps to extend your arms back to the starting position.
  4. Keep your elbow position fixed and repeat.
